There are always some good things in every not-so-good situation that life has thrown at us if we choose to look at the bright side of it.
This global pandemic that the whole world is into has brought so much to take in and digest! The mandatory lockdowns, community quarantines, and all the DONT's left many of us with not so much choice.
Staying home and not being able to work for a long period of time has opened an opportunity to make a complete detour instead of getting stuck in the traffic that the inevitable situation has caused the world. It opened the eyes of millions of people to see the downright opposite perspective of life. But most importantly, it teaches us so many life lessons that nature probably would not want us to learn the other way.
Thankfully, technology has gone so much ahead! While the pandemic is trying to wipe everything that is normal out, the technology is there to catch and save us. Almost everything literally went 'ONLINE' and making business is on top of it.
They say Filipinos are resilient people. I'd say we are... I am... my family is... and I guess a lot of other people out there too. At least for me, being resilient is for certain because that is exactly how the idea of 'Love from the Kitchen' came to be.
Online food selling is everywhere in this time of pandemic. We (my family) did it too for quite a while, specifically during the lockdown. We thought turning our passion into something productive is a great idea. So, with the help of my girls, we started retailing and delivering food - from pasta and desserts to Pinoy popular snacks --- and then in just a matter of months, it just dawned to us that we are already preparing food packages for different occasions - birthdays, anniversaries, mother and father's day and even Christmas and New Year! All of these we did online! We post our products, we get responses through comments and private messages, we prepare and finally deliver orders. It's how it worked. Sounds simple but I must admit it was laborious. However, the fulfillment it brought especially to me was just splendid.
Another effective way of reaching potential clients other than posting online is the use of a sticker with the business name, logo, and contact information on it. Big or small - all food packages have it.
Anyway, I should just probably publish a separate post about tips or maybe some personally learned strategies on how to effectively sell food. Let's just get down to how this wonderful pandemic story came to an end.
Well, I wouldn't say it's unfortunate because I knew my reality is in the other field (and that is teaching) and it has to call me back so I had to slow down and eventually stop - not the making of food, though but just the selling. I had to admit it didn't go easy especially that people were still contacting us here and all I could do was to explain.
Several months have gone by and while watching food channels like I usually do in my free time, the idea of bringing my passion back and this time to all three platforms (Youtube, Facebook, Blogger, and maybe more in time) suddenly dawned on me. And I said to myself, "why not?"
I may not be able to sell food here but I'd be more than happy to share some love straight from our humble kitchen for now.
